Composition, Sound Design & live soundtracking
Seraphina joined Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds for their spring 2025 production A Tryal of Witches as Composer & Musical Director. A new work by playwright Tallulah Brown, the collaboration began with the week-long Generate Programme development workshop in collaboration with National Theatre Studio in March 2024.
Seraphina’s role included composing original material for use within the play, producing underscoring for the featured songs (written by TRILLS*), directing the actors in their musical performances & teaching them featured songs, sourcing and creating sound effects, and audio system design.
The play asks what led to one of the most shocking witch trials in British history. The 1645 trial in Bury St Edmunds was the first time women were convicted using spectral evidence - the belief that witches could be in two places at one time. Directed by TRBSE Artistic Director Owen Calvert-Lyons.
